A small-capacity steel tank finished with a protective coating for burial. Underground tanks are coated rather than painted because a buried surface faces continuous soil contact, and the coating is the first line of defence against corrosion.
Suited to
Small or intermittent loads where the tank needs to be out of sight — a single appliance, a supplementary supply, or a site where an above-ground vessel is not acceptable on visual or setback grounds.
Installation requirements
Burying a propane vessel is not a simpler job than siting one above ground — it is a harder one. It requires correct excavation and backfill, cathodic protection to protect the steel, and compliance with NFPA 58 alongside your local authority’s requirements.
