Why the 500 gallon size is common
500 gallons is the usual choice for a whole-home propane supply. It holds enough for a heating season in most climates without the siting constraints of a 1,000 gallon vessel, and it is the size most delivery schedules are built around.
Installation
ASME propane tanks are regulated pressure vessels. Siting, setback distances and installation are governed by NFPA 58 and by your state and local authority, and installation must be carried out by a licensed propane professional. Buried installation additionally requires correct backfill and a sacrificial anode for cathodic protection.
Confirm your permit is in place and your installer is booked before ordering. We deliver the tank. We do not install it, fill it, connect it, or obtain permits on your behalf.
